Skitch

SkitchlogoSkitch is a very simple to use  app that will let you annotate existing pictures with a range of options at your fingertips as well as take and edit screengrabs, which makes it potentially a really useful tool for resource production.

It is is a cross platform package  that has been developed as a bolt on by Evernote, the note-taking application that has successfully bridged mobile and desktop platforms and so works best in combination with Evernote as the file saving destination – although it is possible to share your outputs to a range of other locations.

Skitch gives you  three main options: you can take a photo, open an image, or just start with a blank page.  As with any drawing package, Skitch then gives you a few options for annotating your image. It isn’t an image manipulation package as such, and isn’t really intended for editing edit photos, but it will let you annotate and sketch on them before sharing, saving, exporting etc’.

You may decide to use it for something as simple as putting an arrow on a picture or adding text. You can zoom images to get to highlight a particular element as well as change the colour and size of the annotation.
